Prices

I was undecided about what sort of price to sell my magazine at, so I have researched some existing magazines to see what price they are sold at. The results were as follows:
NME Magazine: £2.20
Kerrang Magazine: £2.20
I found it hard to search a range of magazines as the information was not availible on the internet. However I have decided that my magazine should be sold at £2.00 as it is an easy amount for people to use their spare change to buy, and is less than other magazines so will attract more people.

I Newspaper

The newspaper ‘I’ is aimed at people from the ages 16 - 40. The middle-aged people featured on the front cover suggest that it is for their age group. There are also new cinema releases, and reviews inside the magazine, which will attract the younger readers.
I newspaper was developed by the independent in order to attract young professionals to read their daily information quickly and easily.
Compared to the sun at 30p, the times at 90p, and the guardian £1, the i newspaper is competitive as the price of this is only 20p so that everyone can afford it and use their spare change at a good cause.
It has been advertised on TV adverts, pre and post watershed so that everyone gets to see it to make sure they have the oppotunity to see if it is something they would like to purchase. I would market my magazine on the internet on its own webpage, and make it availible for sale in newsagents.

Front Covers

1.2.
3.4.
I have tried out my edited photos along with my chosen masthead to see which looks best as a front cover.

Masthead Ideas

I have experimented my masthead with a few different fonts, and colours and will try these out on a mock up front cover to see what they look like, then decide upon a final title colour and font. I think id prefer to have a red title as it would apeal to both genders, however i would need to see if this colour compliments the final photo which i will use on the front cover.

Final Title Idea

I have thought about my title, after creating the midmap. I was choosing between the names 'unplugged' and 'player'. I thought 'unplugged' was a good name, however it sounded as if it should be suited for a pop magazine instead of an acoustic magazine. In the end 'player' proved a better title idea, as it is more suited to the genre, and shows clearly what the magazine will be about.

Photographs

These are my music magazine photographs having been edited. I think these photographs definately look better in black and white, and without a background. The plain background makes them look more professional and will allow writing to be easily readable if they're used on the front cover.

Initial Photographs

I took these following from my previous sketches, however it was hard to follow all of them exactly as I couldnt find the lighting and correct locations for the shots. I overcame this problem by editing in shadows and highlights on photoshop and even photoshoped in a background, replacing the previous ones. You can see the changes made by viewing the slideshow above. When I was shooting these, the weather wasn't good at all so I had to put off the outside shots for another time. The outside shots were mainly going to be for the dps and contents, so I will carry these out once my front cover is finished and then choose the most appropriate from my range of photographs inside, and out. I used a variety of midshots, close ups, high angle and low angles to try to vary the outcomes.

Front Cover Plan

Here i have sketched what i would like my front cover to look like so that when i come to choose my photo and its positioning along with text etc, i will be able to make decicions quickly and efficiently. I have decided to have a large photo with a plain background to make it easier to read text, and a large title so that people know what it is called straight away.

Photoshoot Storyboard

Here I have sketched what I would like my photos to look like when shooting them in order to prepare for my photoshoot. I have also considered the lighting, props, pose and location. I have planned this out before hand to save time whilst taking the photos and thinking of positions and props needed to have the outcome i would like.
